It’s kind of a strange thing, but golfers are not
easy people to shop for. Anytime I’ve headed out to
shop for a gift for a golfer I know I walk into a
store and head to the sporting goods department. A
quick look around gives me the choice of basically a
golf cap, a box of golf balls or a bag of tees. All
of these items are essential for a round of golf, but
none of them are overly exciting!
With that in mind, I headed to Amazon.com’s Golf
Department and started searching for unusual, unique
and just plain cool golf gifts I’d love to find under
my Christmas tree or in my mailbox on my birthday.
Here are some of the things I uncovered:
Since I’m writing this in December and the weather is
starting to turn cool, I’ll start with the
Coleman Golf Cart Heater
, an item which I never knew existed. How cool
would it be to be on the course on a blustery
winter day, and have a warm golf cart to retreat
to between shots? I remember a round last year
where I played a course about an hours drive
north of my home. Between the time I left my
house and arrived at the golf course, the
temperature had dropped about 20 degrees. I
looked like a fool as a teed it up in my shorts
and short sleeved shirt in 40 degree weather. A
golf cart heater would surely have made that
round a much more pleasant experience!
Next I’ll move on to the really cool
Garmin GPS Golf Watch
. I’ve never been patient enough to pace off
distance from yardage markers, sprinkler heads,
etc, and I always give up after fumbling for a
few holes with handheld GPS devices and iPhone
yardage apps. but I think even I would be able
to handle a quick glance at my wrist for an
acurate yardage reading!
When I’me not on the golf course, I spend a lot of
time thinking about being on the golf course. When
under stress, I’ve been known to retreat into the
backyard just to feel a golf grip in my hands and
take a few comfortable golf swings with a club. So I
think the
Golf Themed Barbeque Tool set
would be a huge comfort to someone like me. Just
thinking about grilling some nice steaks in the
backyard while holding the golf grips of these
grilling tools brings a smile to my face!
Fortunately I live in Florida, but let’s pretend for
a minute that I lived up north where frigid
temperatures and the horrid white stuff called snow
drives golfers from the links for months at a time!
I’d have to believe that the
Golf Themed Barbeque Tool set
woould be just the thing to bring peace of mind
to the shut-in golfer. Playing a genteel game of
strategy while manipulating playing pieces
shaped like golf items might help the northern
golfer stave off insanity til the warmer months
arrive. Along this line there is also a
Golf Cribbage Game
if that is more your golfer’s speed.
Ever had a round of golf ruined by a sudden rain
shower? A pair of
Rain Golf Gloves
might be just the thing to keep in your bag for
those slippery, squishy occasions. I, for one,
can not seem to keep a firm grip on my gloves
when the rain start to fall (this is why
Chamois Golf Grips
are among my all-time favorites). I remember
playing a round in Georgia once. Mid-round I was
shooting my all-time low score. Then the rain
began to fall. By about the 15th hole it was
really coming down and everyone in my group
wanted to quit, but I got them all to press on,
hoping against hope that I’d be able to hold on
for my career best score. Of course the clubs
kept slipping more and more until I got to the
point where I was concentrating more on just
keeping from flinging my clubs down the fairway
than making contact with the ball. Needless to
say my round fell apart. A set of these gloves
may have saved my day.
Finally, how many of you remember hour after pleasant
hour spent at your favorite sports bar playing that
classic arcade game
Golden Tee Golf
? Well now, for you extremely extravagant golf
gift buyers (and extremely well-healed) you can
buy that classic for your home game room! For
the less extravagaent, there is also the
plug-and-play
Golden Tee Deluxe TV version.
Well, you get the idea. I’m so committed to this
quest, that I’ve even created anAmazon Golf Gift idea web
pagethat you can check out
for a few more ideas.
Thanks for stopping by and happy golfing and shopping
to all!
